The photo store said thepictures would be ready in a few days. On September 12, 2001, a day afterthe attack on the World Trade Center, Butt went to get the photographs, butthe store had written his name down incorrectly and the clerk could notfind the pictures. Butt left hurriedly, looking anxious. The clerk made asecond search for the pictures, and on finding them saw the World TradeCenter in the background and called the FBI. Butt was immediatelyarrested and accused of entering the U.S. on a false passport. He was heldin jail until June 8, 2002, much of the time in solitary confinement, andthen was given an opportunity to plead guilty to the false passport charge,which he did on September 12.
