Employee Recognition<br />

Recognizing Team Performance and<br />

Quality is one of the <strong>Heinz</strong> Chairman’s<br />

Four Imperatives and is a major focus<br />

throughout the company’s operations.<br />

In recognition of worldwide employees’<br />

efforts, we presented our 2005 Chairman’s<br />

Imperatives Awards to 60 executives. And,<br />

through the company’s “CEO Academy,”<br />

managers received extended time for<br />

personal exchange with <strong>Heinz</strong> Chairman,<br />

President and CEO William R. Johnson.<br />

In the United States, 12 employees from<br />

the Consumer Products organization<br />

earned “Henry Awards,” which recognize<br />

those that carry on Henry J. <strong>Heinz</strong>’s<br />

traditions of hard work, superior quality<br />

and innovation. “Above and Beyond,” a<br />

program within <strong>Heinz</strong> (U.S.) Foodservice,<br />

recognizes employees who have taken the<br />

initiative to go the extra mile in their work<br />

day. <strong>Heinz</strong> Europe’s “Premier Awards”<br />

saluted 35 employees who exemplified<br />

Passion, Risk Tolerance, Excellence,<br />

Motivation, Innovation, Empowerment,<br />

and Respect.<br />

Engaging Our Employees<br />

Empowering employees relies upon open,<br />

honest two-way communication. <strong>Heinz</strong><br />

aims to achieve this through the following<br />

worldwide communication platforms:<br />

• <strong>Heinz</strong>web: The company’s global<br />

intranet serves as a one-stop resource<br />

for <strong>Heinz</strong> employees worldwide.<br />

Regularly updated, the site provides<br />

information about organizational<br />

changes, <strong>Heinz</strong>-specific news from<br />

around the world, internal policies, and<br />

tools to assist employees in their jobs.<br />

Each <strong>Heinz</strong> affiliate also has a section<br />

dedicated to providing more detailed<br />

region/country-specific information<br />

for employees.<br />

• Town Hall Meetings: In 2005, <strong>Heinz</strong><br />

introduced Global Town Hall meetings<br />

whereby our Chairman and other senior<br />

executives highlight business priorities,<br />

opportunities, and discuss the company’s<br />

progress and performance to date. All<br />

sessions include a time for questions<br />

from employees. These sessions are<br />

broadcast over our intranet and made<br />

available to every <strong>Heinz</strong> employee<br />

around the world.<br />

• SmartBriefs: Daily updates about<br />

industry trends and <strong>Heinz</strong> news are<br />

e-mailed to employees worldwide.<br />

• <strong>Heinz</strong>Newz: In North America, <strong>Heinz</strong><br />

recently launched an employee<br />

newsletter aimed at sharing global<br />

information about the company.<br />

The newsletter is mailed directly to<br />

employees’ homes twice yearly.
