Consultation mattersWe consult stakeholders and the licensed trade about matters whichdirectly affect you and/or your work so please take the time to participatein these exercises. Some recent consultations have received lowresponse levels. If you do not respond to our proposals, we will assumeyou support them. We value your experience and feedback and stronglyencourage you to let us know your views.Be assured that we consider all valid comments and matters raised tosupport or oppose proposed changes and updates so please provideyour written response, either by email to licensing@basingstoke.gov.uk orby post to the Civic Offices address. Your views can then be consideredas part of our review into these areas. In this newsletter, we are consulting about a suggestion raised by twoseparate operators regarding the private hire vehicle No Booking NoRide door signs. Both operators felt the door sign should also includedetails of the operator to improve public safety so passengers can beassured they getting into the vehicle provided by the operator with whomthey booked. This may reduce the number of ‘no shows’ caused bypassengers getting onto the wrong vehicle. Most private hire vehiclescarry separate operator signs in addition to our door signs. This proposalwould mean these signs could be merged so the vehicle would only berequired to carry the single sign. This would also mean however door signs would need to be updated ifthe vehicle changed from one operator to another.Officers also propose to undertake a review of the vehicle testingstandards and testing provision. Please provide your feedback aboutthe current vehicle testing criteria and the provision of vehicletesting stationswe currentlyoffer, good orBookingridebad.
