All of the department's staff are trained on the use of new equipment.I. Our system of storage is based around: flammable chemicals are stored in a special storage cupboard; our usual non-flammable chemicals are stored in a special Chemical Store primarily in analphabetical arrangement. We have few hazardous chemicals (e.g. oxidising) and most are storedin relatively small quantities. The alphabetical system is convenient and poses very little risk.Acids are stored on the floor of the 'Chemical Store' or in the lead lined cupboard by the sink; materials, hand-tools and small items of equipment should be labelled, and, wherever possible,securely stored. The suitable storage of tools that are potentially hazardous, such as scissors,craft knives, lino-cutters and chisels, is considered to be as important as their safe and sensibleuse; wherever feasible and appropriate, substances should be stored in plastic containers to minimisethe risk of breakage.ii.iii.iv.Machinery or large items of equipment that cannot be stored, should be located in the safestpossible position in the room/workshop, taking account of the amount of space needed tooperate them.Labelling on chemical bottles - chemical bottles are clearly labelled with the name of the chemicaland any necessary hazard symbols.Storage and maintenance of gas cylinders.
