ocus on AIRLINES SPECİALJanuary/February'07Czech AirlinesCzech Airlines (CSA) is, with its 83 yearlonghistory, the leading air carrier in theregion of Central and Eastern Europe.CSA both alone and in cooperation withalliance partners flies to 113 destinationsin 47 countries thus allowing its customersfast and comfortable connectionsto major business and political centres ofthe world. In 2005 the airline transporteda record 5,2 million passengers. Behindthe good results stands the airline's successfulbusiness strategy, exceptionalstandards of passenger care and carefullyprepared flight timetables offeringgood departure times and flight connections.CSA's fleet currently consists of 50Airbus, Boeing and ATR aircraft. Duringthe course of 2006 to 2008 the fleet willbe supplemented with 12 medium-rangeAirbus A320 and A319 airliners, whichrank among the most modern transportplanes in the world. The three of them -Airbus A320, have already been delivered.Investment into new airliners willenable CSA not only to open up new destinationsbut also to flexibly react to themoment of the situation on the air passengermarket. This will considerably raisethe company's competitiveness againstother, mainly European carriers. Since2001, CSA has been a member of oneof the most important global air carrieralliances: SkyTeam. Its members offerabout 728 destinations on their regularroutes in more than 140 countries aroundthe world. In addition to the wide rangeof services offered, CSA passengers cantake advantage of a host of other benefits,including joint frequent flyer programmes,access to 391 airport lounges,24-hour guaranteed reservations, singlecheck-in for multiple stopovers and, lastbut not least, a guarantee of the samequality of service at all SkyTeam carriers.Together with arranging transport on regularroutes CSA also offers travel agenciesand other contractual partners specialcharter connections that give passengersthe advantage of unusual destinationscombined with interesting prices.Some favourite destinations include forexample Venezuela, Cuba and theDominican Republic, and in the summermonths the most attractive holiday resortssuch as Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia andGreece. CSA also is expanding moreand more into other business areas. Aircargo transport has taken on greater significanceand CSA has one of the mostmodern cargo terminals in CentralEurope. The airline also arranges groundservices, aircraft repair and catering for anumber of other air carriers. CSA, as thefirst among the EU accession countries,also received the European Union's certificateto perform maintenance on aircraftand aircraft units. In future we hopethat more and more passengers will meeton board CSA's modern airliners wherethey can expect pleasant personnel,experienced pilots, good cuisine and traditionalCzech hospitality.CSA Carried Over Five Million PassengersOver the January - November end period,Czech Airlines (CSA) carried 5.1 millionpassengers. It represents a year onyear increase of 2.3 percent; over thesame period last year CSA carried 4.8million passengers. Scheduled flights,with more than 4.3 million passengers,accounted for the greatest share. Overthe first eleven months, CSA flew morethan 36,000 flights. The most popular regularCSA destinations in the penultimate month ofthe year included Paris, Amsterdam,London, Madrid and Athens . CSA charterflights grew by nearly ten percent andfrom January to November this year theycarried more than 760,000 passengers.The most frequent destinations in the CSAcharter network at the end of the summerwere Hurghada in Egypt, Heraklion onCrete and Antalya in Turkey . With theonset of winter, CSA aircraft will be landingin such exotic destinations asVaradero in Cuba, the Venezuelan LaIsla Margarita and La Romana and PuntaCana in the Dominican Republic . CSAcharter flights do not only carry clients ofCzech and foreign travel agencies. Moreand more frequently, renowned internationalfirms are ordering flights from CSA.The winter schedule, i.e., from 29October, has increased the frequency offlights to destinations such as Moscow,Yekaterinburg, Odessa, Tallinn, Vilnius,Sophia, Sarajevo, Ljubljana, Zagreb andBucharest.CSA also places great emphasison the punctuality of its flights. For thefirst three quarters, CSA came second interms of the punctuality of flights out of the26 European airlines in the Associationof European Airlines (AEA).
