OpenRoad Mazda Opens
New sign, new paint, new ownership and a
whole new way of doing things. OpenRoad
Auto Group has acquired a Mazda store in Port
Moody. Open since September 2008, it’s hard
not to notice the difference already.
There are plans to install a brand new building. In the
meantime, the existing facility is being transformed both
inside and out to add the OpenRoad touch for now. As
you drive the main artery along St. Johns Street, you can
see the renovations in full swing. The building is already
fresher and brighter – more inviting – with the new carpet,
furniture and site enhancement elements scheduled to
arrive soon.
“We knew we had our work cut out for us to update
the building, but what a difference already,” says
OpenRoad president Christian Chia. “Sometimes it’s challenging
to put our stamp on an acquisition that comes
with an existing facility,” he continues, “but we were very
excited to add Mazda to our growing portfolio. It’s such
a great brand and everyone at Mazda Canada has been
outstanding. Ultimately we want to make sure that the
same service and different experience OpenRoad is known
for, can now become available at Mazda in Port Moody.”
As part of the transition, Chia and chief operating officer
Rob Steele wanted to establish great bench strength
as their first priority. “We wanted staff associates that
would be second to none in terms of Mazda experience
and knowledge,” says Steele. As a result, a deep team
by Will Fong
of Mazda experts is now in place, with over 100 years of
combined experience in Mazda products and services.
Kirt Gill joins OpenRoad as the new general manager
of our Mazda location in Port Moody, having originally
started with Mazda back in 1985. Roger Bhajan and John
Yeung are sales managers with eighteen years and seven
years of Mazda sales expertise respectively, while new
fixed operations manager Jonathan Jaehrlich started his
automotive career on the sales side with Mazda in 1991,
and technician Richard Houghton has worked on Mazdas
for twenty years since 1989. In both the sales and service
departments, there are many staff associates here with
over five and ten years of Mazda experience each. Bench
strength, indeed.
While OpenRoad adds its magic touch to the building
renovation and staff development, Mazda delivers the
sporty fun to every driving experience through its exciting
new products and services. Now available in GS or GT
trim, the 100% new 2009 Mazda6 mid-size sedan is larger
boasting a list of standard features that would impress
anyone. With winter driving conditions, there’s never a
better time to choose a Mazda CX-7 or CX-9 SUV. And
look for the highly anticipated all-new 2010 Mazda3
coming in spring 2009. It will be the first full redesign of
Mazda’s best-selling sports compact in five years, very
much worth the wait.
So zoom-zoom to OpenRoad Mazda soon.
Something new and very different is happening with
