Publisher’s Note
It’s almost the end of the year
so, of course, it is party time! and no,
we are not talking political parties
either – the Us election is now firmly
behind us.
Celebrations have been many at openroad.
The official opening at openroad audi,
featuring the all-new a4, brought out
more than 600 late-night audi owners and
enthusiasts, with
one lucky couple
driving away in a
brand new audi tt.
shortly thereafter
we launched the
brand new tl, the
most powerful car
that acura has ever
produced. Japanese
‘nihonshu’ or sake
was paired with
ear-shattering taiko
drums as we rocked
the north shore.
We also celebrated
the addition
of an all-new member
to the openroad
family, namely
openroad mazda
in Port moody. Kirt
Gill and his fine team of mazda professionals
are more than ready to meet the large
crowds that the all-new mazda6 and soonto-be-released
mazda3 will generate.
This issue is focused on our favourite
things. one of mine, without a doubt, is
regularly prepared by our featured driver
this month, my close friend and founder of
Cactus Club Café, richard Jaffray.
Cert no. XXX-XXX-000
XX%
If you haven’t already tried his mini burgers
at the new Burrard street location you
are missing out.
and you will find some fascinating feature
articles in this issue, as our authors
rise to the challenge and reveal their favourites
for us. trim lines presents its top
10 health and wellness books of all time,
while our trade In investment expert tells
us everything we
need to know about
his favourite new
tax-free federal savings
plan. In these
times we could all
use a healthier and
wealthier lifestyle!
and what colour
do you think is the
new black? our
Interiors expert
tells us in his piece
on favourite design
things. In our Plates
food feature, Blue
Water Café’s frank
Pabst reveals what
he would do with his
favourite ingredient
if he appeared on
the Iron Chef television
program. here is a hint. his secret
ingredient is related to the ocean, just like
our travel destination, where we take an
eventful driving tour through florida’s
magical Keys.
There is so much in this edition of
openroad driver that it has become one of
my favourite issues. I hope it will be one of
yours as well. happy driving!
