Emphasizes troubleshooting circuit breakercomponents, operation, and internal control schemes, including close coil, trip coil, optionalsecondary trip coil, optional undervoltage trip device and anti-pump logic. Discusses typical NFPA 70Elockout/tagout and safety practices. Reviews testing and general preventative maintenancepractices. “Hands-On” session reinforces classroom discussions. Class documents includemanufacturer instruction manual(s) and project specific equipment drawings.SWGR203 – Maintaining, Troubleshooting, and Testing MV Circuit BreakersPre-requisite: SWGR202 – MV Circuit Breaker Basics for Operators and Electricians orequivalent work experience.Circuit breaker maintenance is emphasized. Troubleshooting techniques and methods are discussedfor faster problem resolution. Testing discussions review recommended manufacturer’s tests andexpected results. “Hands-On” activities reinforces classroom discussions. Reviews switchgear one lines,three lines, and control drawings. Medium voltage circuit breaker construction is reviewed. Mediumvoltage circuit breaker operation is investigated along with control schemes including close, trip,lockout and anti-pump logic. Discusses typical NFPA 70E lockout/tagout and safety practices.
