Course DescriptionsSAFE102 – NFPA 70E Safety TrainingPre-requisite: Operators, Electricians, and Technicians working near or with electricalequipment.Company specific written electrical safety program considerations begin the discussions. NFPA 70Esafety training is emphasized. NFPA 70E example forms for Job Briefing, Energized Electrical WorkPermit, Logout/Tagout Procedures, etc. are reviewed. Instructional safety videos illustrate NFPA 70Eexamples of workplace violations. Confirming an electrically safe work condition for switchgear andMCC’s are discussed. Lockout/Tagout procedures being emphasized. Matrices for Hazard/RiskCategory Classifications, Protective Clothing and PPE, and Protective Clothing Characteristics arereviewed. An example of Arc Flash and Shock Hazard Warning Label is used to discuss PPErequirements, flash hazard, limited approach, restricted, and prohibited approach boundaries.NFPA 70E general requirements for electrical installations are mentioned. A copy of NFPA 70E,“Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace” is included for discussions and reference.SAFE105 – High Resistance Grounding (HRG)Pre-requisite: Working knowledge of basic electricity.Discussions include typical grounding methods with emphasis on HRG basic theory andapplication criteria.
