Caribbean RegionThe perfect combinationof two strengths,joined by agas pipe line in Puerto Rico<strong>Skanska</strong> LA, in its first alliance withanother Business Unit, was chosenwith <strong>Skanska</strong> USA Building toundertake the construction of a gaspipe line in Puerto Rico.This assignment results from thecombination of the two BusinessUnits’ strengths: on one side,<strong>Skanska</strong> USA Building’s presence and localknow-how; on the other hand, <strong>Skanska</strong>LA’s technicalexperience.This gas pipe linewill be 67 kilometreslong, 20 incheswide, and will bedeveloped within anestimated timelineof 393 days. It willbe built for our new client Puerto RicoElectric Power Authority (PREPA), astate-owned energy company. The pipeline will transport natural gas from theEcoEléctrica terminal, in Peñuelas, to aplant in Aguirre, South of Puerto Rico.Design, supply, financing, testing andcommissioning stand among the tasksincluded in this project, amounting to aUSD 74 M contract – 50% <strong>Skanska</strong> LAand 50% <strong>Skanska</strong> USA Building.
