DEFINITION<br />
PASTOR (Shepherd)<br />
The special ability to assume a long-term personal responsibility for <strong>the</strong> spiritual welfare <strong>of</strong> a group <strong>of</strong><br />
believers.<br />
1. To Guide-Psalm 23, Is. 40:11, avoid hazards<br />
2. To Graze-Feed with knowledge & Understanding, Jer 3:15<br />
3. To Guard-From hostile influences, to watch, not permit to scatter, or leave fold.<br />
4. Office as well as a gift.<br />
CHARACTERISTICS<br />
1. Responsible for teaching, feeding, healing wounds, developing unity, helping people find <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
gift, and whatever else is necessary for Discipleship.<br />
2. Person centered, love for people<br />
3. Ability to sense people’s needs and care for <strong>the</strong>m<br />
4. In for <strong>the</strong> long haul<br />
5. Essentially a congregational or cell gift<br />
6. God puts people in “Bundles: taking responsibility for a bundle.<br />
7. Likes to visit<br />
8. Leads by example<br />
9. Protects from harmful influence<br />
10. Seeks after <strong>the</strong> one that is lost.<br />
11. Exerts influence over people, instills loyalty<br />
12. Looked to many times as <strong>the</strong> leader.<br />
13. Associated with <strong>the</strong> gifts <strong>of</strong> MERCY & HELPS<br />
14. 3-6% may have this gift.<br />
15. Widows teach younger wives.<br />
16. People look to <strong>the</strong>m to make decisions.<br />
