This service has attracted increasing numbers of parents as the preferred means of securinginformation, selecting schools, ordering preferences and making an on-line application. This LGfLmanaged service makes it easier for parents and carers to apply for school places and allowsthem to search for information and apply online for primary and secondary schools, and in someboroughs for nursery, junior and middle schools. www.eadmissions.org.ukBSF administered LGfL servicesReferenceServiceBrief DescriptionPackageThis LGfL ServiceBSFBSF administered LGfL servicesThis allows LGfL services to be integrated into BSF ICT provisionSee belowis managed directly by LGfLLGfL Trust, a non-profit making public sector body, initially set-up to procure and supply servicesto its member LAs, has taken the necessary steps to enable continued supply of services toschools which are subject to BSF.As an early response to the BSF ICT Output Specification, LGfL considered with its commercialpartners the option to provide enhanced service parameters and/or contract terms at chargeswhich reflect the enhanced terms. This option remains. However at the time of writing no authority or BSF provider has wished topursue this, recognising that the existing service and terms have served LAs and their schoolswell for some years. The BSF predisposition of transferring risk through the supply chain hasbecome less prevailing when all parties have recognised the low risk represented by the LGfL’slong history of consistent good performance.Opinion to date has been to maintain the current arrangements in terms of service, terms, charges, and contractual relationships i.e. the LA has remained the LGfL customer for broadbandand related services, and the services have continued.LAs, LEPs or BSF bidders requiring further information on LGfL services are invited in the firstinstance to contact office@lgfl.org.ukLGfL for AcademiesReferenceServiceBrief DescriptionPackageThis LGfL ServiceLGfL for AcademiesLGfL for AcademiesThe provision of LGfL services direct to AcademiesSeparate Charge from LGfL to Academies, with the possibility of acontribution from Academies to LA being factored into grantdistribution calculations.is managed directly by LGfLLGfL would not wish pupils at Academy schools to be disadvantaged by being disenfranchisedfrom the LGfL service offering, and LGfL has worked with its commercial partners to developterms which are appropriate to Academies.Academies may procure LGfL broadband services (and subject to this, other LGfL services) butwill pay rates which reflect an element of additional support required for a non-LA school.Currently, academy broadband rates do not reflect a contribution to the annual cost of maintainingthe core network as this is fully covered by the contributions, made under contract by memberLAs. Consequently, LAs should factor in an academy contribution to core fees and LGfLsubscriptions when considering the devolution of any grant element to academies.Academies which join and connect to the LGfL by means of taking a broadband service, will beable to benefit from LGfL premium content and a range of other ‘no-charge-to-school’ services.32
