Blood collection tube must be allowed to fill completely.If specimen cannot be tested within 4 hours prepare "platelet-poor plasma" as follows:1. Centrifuge the specimen and remove the plasma to a labeled plastic transfer tube.2. Re-spin the plasma, this time removing 2/3 of the re-spun plasma to a second labeled plastic transfer tube.3. Label the re-spun plasma as "platelet-poor plasma" and indicate the date and time of collection.4.
