Tubes Not Properly Filled.Special Instructions:Patients should be off oral anticoagulant therapy for 14 days if possible. Collect a discard tube prior to collectingcoagulation tube when butterfly systems are used to evacuate air from the line and avoid QNS samples. Bloodcollection tube must be allowed to fill completely. If blood specimen cannot be tested within 4 hours of collection,prepare "platelet-poor plasma" as follows:1. Centrifuge the specimen and remove the plasma to a labeled plastic transfer tube.2. Re-spin the plasma, this time removing 2/3 of the re-spun plasma to a second labeled plastic transfer tube.3. Label the re-spun plasma as "platelet-poor plasma" and indicate the date and time of collection.4.
