RennsportReunion IV UpdateMichelin joins PCA as spec tire manufacturerfor the Rennsport Reunion Cup RacePorsche Rennsport Reunion IV will be theworld’s greatest gathering of Porsche race carsand the drivers that drove them to victory, heldat Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca from October14 to 16, 2011. Hosted by Porsche Cars North America,it will assemble the wide variety of Porsche’s mosthistoric racing models from the nimble 550 Spyder ofthe mid-fifties through the mighty 917 and 956/962 ofthe seventies and eighties to the highly successful RSSpyder of the last decade. Special tribute will be paidto the numerous racing versions of the Porsche 911and their countless victories on the dawn of what willbecome another milestone of this iconic sports car.The Porsche Club of America is honored to assistthe Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV with severalactivities: History of the Porsche 911 Display, PorscheModel-Specific Parking Corrals with Parade laps ofthe track, PCA Hospitality and Membership Center,two race groups: Rennsport Reunion Cup for PorscheCup Cars and PCA Club Racing for PCA race cars, andPCA Volunteer Pool—workers to assist with the club’sinvolvement. Enhancing the Rennsport Reunion Cuprace, Michelin Tire Company comes on board as thespec tire manufacturer for that exciting contest.We are looking for exceptional examples ofPorsche 911 production models for the History of thePorsche 911 Display at Mazda Raceway Laguna Secaduring the event. It will be a display representing the911 model throughout its generational life. We will have a very special eventmemento for the volunteer workers.Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) and PorscheRace Car Classic (PRCC) have announced that theorganizations have coordinated their event activities toallow all Porsche enthusiasts to take full advantage ofwhat will be an unprecedented celebration of Porsche’srich motorsport history around the Monterey Peninsulaover the third weekend in October. The early rungroups (1 and 2) of Porsche Rennsport Reunion IVwill conclude their racing activities at Mazda RacewayLaguna Seca on Saturday, October 15, so that they mayfully participate in the PRCC activities at Quail Lodgeon the following day upon invitation.The Porsche Race Car Classic, a gathering of significantrace cars from Porsche’s break-out era of1950-1965, will take place on Sunday, October 16, atthe Quail Lodge in Carmel. Event producer SteveHeinrichs is pulling out all the stops to bring rarelyseenrace cars out of private collections and museumsand into the light of day on the grassy fields at Quail.While the cars are by invitation, the event itself isopen to the general public.
