Sun Fun Area By Sandy ShirleyWork is crazy busy and life is even more hectic. Why am I tellingyou this? So you’ll understand why this report is so short thismonth. We had a wonderful turn out at Andy Helfer’s garage! Hewas so generous with his time as he went around the room explainingwhat each car was, how he acquired it, how much was spent onrestoration, and approximate values today. We really appreciate allthe time he and Bullet Bellinger put into organizing and cleaning. Iknow it was a lot of work and to top it all off he had “The Toy Box”T-Shirts for everyone who attended. Karl Sease will take my placeat the July meeting, since I’ll be at VIR for a DE. Show your supportfor Karl and think of me with a big smile on my face as I round theoak tree and head up the back straight.– Sandy2011 Sun Fun CalendarJuly 19th Area meeting 6:30 (Tuesday) The British Bull Dog Pub,1220 Bower Parkway, ColumbiaAugust 16th Area meeting 6:30 (Tuesday) Location TBASeptember 20th Area meeting 6:30 (Tuesday) Location TBAOctober 18th Area meeting 6:30 (Tuesday) Oktoberfest at Doc’sGrrrage, 359 Porsche Dr, LexingtonNovember 15th Area meeting 6:30 (Tuesday) Location TBADecember 13th Area Christmas Party(Note: this is the 2nd Tuesday of the month)Cotton Grill, 711 E. If you know any of our newmembers, please encourage them to join our Facebook page at(called “Triangle PCA”) and to check out/subscribe to our Wordpressblog at www.trianglearea.wordpress.com.June has been a little different than my past months as Area Director. When I first started, we phased out weekday dinners due toperceived lack of interest. However, we tried our hand at a weekdaydinner on the second Thursday of the month, and it was wellattended. The dinner was held at the Preserve Golf Club, thanks toTriangle Area member Leon Montgomery. Leon is the person whoasked why we stopped having the weeknight gatherings becausehis Saturday mornings are almost always committed to another activity, and he volunteered to make arrangements for meeting spaceat the Club’s restaurant if we were interested. Nine people and Igathered last week, and we had great food and great conversation. Here’s a list of all the members who attended:Randy Hayward Blue 996 C2 AeroYoung KimGray 944S2 CabrioletLeon and Sue Ellen Guards Red 964 TargaMontgomeryMark RinaldiGray 987 Boxster STom Roosred 356 coupeKen RuddGray 928S4Charles Stanley White 911 CarreraMark ZupanWhite Cayman SWe generated some attention at the Club – a PCA member, whohad left years ago, said he would enjoy getting involved again nowthat there was a PCA meeting close to his home. I hope you’ll havean opportunity to join us for a relaxing evening at the Preserve GolfClub next month. It will be held on Thursday, July 14th at 6:30pm.In light of the Thursday evening gathering, I wrongly assumed thatthe following Saturday morning coffee gathering at the Bean & Barrelwould be sparsely attended. We had a great turnout that includedtwo members I had not had the opportunity to meet before. In addition, our former Area Director Martin Salas surfaced afterCars at the return of the Triangle weeknight gathering.July 2011 - Page 31
