<strong>Integra</strong> <strong>Balboa</strong> <strong>Buttress</strong> <strong>Plate</strong> <strong>System</strong>The <strong>Integra</strong> <strong>Balboa</strong> <strong>System</strong>The <strong>Balboa</strong> system is comprised of a <strong>Buttress</strong> <strong>Plate</strong>, <strong>Buttress</strong> Screw, Awl, <strong>Buttress</strong> <strong>Plate</strong> Inserter, and 3mm Screwdriver.The plate is attached to the vertebra using one screw. Two fixation spikes located on the underside of the plate are used foradditional stabilization. Alignment grooves on either side of the plate are used to help the surgeon locate the plate in thecephalad and caudad direction.3<strong>Buttress</strong> Screw Hole33Alignment Grooves3Fixation SpikesPreparation and ApplicationStep 1:Attach the plate to the <strong>Plate</strong> Inserter by placing the pin onthe <strong>Plate</strong> Inserter into the slot on the cephalad end of thebuttress plate.Step 2:Position the buttress plate so that the alignment grooves arealigned with the endplates and the fixation spikes and bonescrew hole are located over the vertebral bodyLift up on the thumb wheel and rotate the knob clockwiseto thread the post on the <strong>Plate</strong> Inserter into the threadedhole on the buttress plate. Do not overtighten the knob.1
