See page 86.Yes.TechnicalSummaryMali is a West African LDC which is vulnerable to climate change-induced drought and decreasingrainfall.The project proposes to implement concrete measures for water control and retention in vulnerablewater buffer zones and promote a range of climate resilient practices in the agro-pastoral, fisheriesand forestry sectors, to reduce the vulnerability of these sectors and the communities involved inthem, to the adverse effects of climate change, particularly the decreasing rainfall which affects wateravailability. It will do so essentially through an empowerment of the local communities andgovernments in the targeted areas, i.e. the Mopti and Tumbouctou areas. Therefore, the project willalso seek to build the capacity of these local stakeholders to adapt to climate change by developingthe necessary tools and plans and acquiring the knowledge to integrate climate change risks in theirdevelopment activities.The 3 expected outcomes of the project are:- Increased climate change resilience of local water systems in Mopti and Timbuktu regions,- The production of local livelihood systems such as agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and forestenhanced under climate change
