Many race participantslearned about MPF at the rainybut well attended race day, andthey went away from the eventwith membership brochures inhand.40
Prairie Tour at Hawk PointMissouri Prairie Foundation (MPF) member Jerry Brown graciouslyhosted a tour of the planted prairie on his property in Hawk Point, nearWarrenton, on September 29. Approximately 30 MPF members enjoyedtouring Jerry’s 12 acres of planted prairie, ranging from 13 years to lessthan one year of establishment. His gorgeous prairie bird garden spilledover with asters, sunflowers and other late-blooming prairie plants.Members enjoyed a potluck supper and conversation in the garden, whichcontains vestiges of its previous life as a formal English garden—arborvitae, hostas and boxwoods, now nearly engulfed by native wildflowers andgrasses.
