<strong>TANGIPAHOA</strong> <strong>PARISH</strong> <strong>SCHOOL</strong> SYSTEM ___________ MAY 3, 2011WHEREAS, teachers and classified staff members provide essentialeducational services and play a vital role in providing for the welfare and safety of ourstudents; andWHEREAS, May is the traditional time of the year to acknowledge thecontributions of certificated and classified staff to public education in Louisiana andthroughout the nation;NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Tangipahoa Parish SchoolBoard recognizes May 2-6, 2011 as Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, andcongratulates teachers and classified staff members for their ongoing contributions toeducation, and for the key roles they play in promoting and ensuring studentachievement, student safety and well-being.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be printed in theProceedings of the Board of Education and a copy be posted in each school building.__________________This is to certify that the above and foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolutionadopted by the Tangipahoa Parish School Board in regular session in Amite,Louisiana May 3, 2011.______________________________Mark Kolwe, Secretary-Treasurer______________________________Rose Dominguez, Board PresidentMs. Bridgette Willson spoke in Public Input.In personal privilege, Ms. Bailey-Simmons stated the School System needs toaddress what happened in the election. She said there were many messages heardthrough this election, such as a lack of communication, a sense of mistrust, peoplewanting the Board to have more humility, and that communities need to be moreinvolved with the new plan. She stated she was thankful that during the FinanceCommittee there was a discussion regarding forming an Audit Committee withqualified citizens.In personal privilege, Mr. Anderson stated that he believes adequatecommunication between the Board, parents and communities is needed. He said theBoard needs to be concise and that all information needs to be given to the public.In personal privilege, Ms. Pittman-McDaniel thanked everyone for coming to themeeting and encouraged more participation at community meetings.In personal privilege, Ms. Duncan stated he appreciated the communityinvolvement during the election through voter turnout and that it is an opportunity tochallenge the School System to be better and more responsive.In personal privilege, Ms. Smith stated that Board members have aresponsibility to represent information truthfully to their respective district voters and tothose outside of their district.It was moved by Mr. Link, seconded by Mr. Anderson, to waive the rules to addthe case of Tatiana Crump vs. TPSB, 21 st JDC, No. 2010-003787, Division H to theagenda for immediate action. Mr. Duncan abstained. Hearing no objection, themotion was adopted.President Dominguez requested Dr. Higgenbotham, Ms. Guerin, Ms. Stilley, Mr.Thomas Bellavia, Mr. Lionel Jackson, Mr. Bret Schnadelbach and Mr. Ron Genco tomeet with the Board in Executive Session.It was moved by Ms. Cohea, seconded by Mr. Link, to enter into ExecutiveSession to discuss the case of Joyce M. Moore vs. TPSB; Nettie Sanchez vs. TPSB,12
