TANGIPAHOA PARISH SCHOOL BOARD PROCEEDINGSSEPTEMBER 4, <strong>2012</strong>The <strong>Tangipahoa</strong> <strong>Parish</strong> School Board met in regular session <strong>Tuesday</strong>,<strong>September</strong> 4, <strong>2012</strong> at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board room, 59656 PulestonRoad, Amite, Louisiana, with President Chris Cohea presiding.MEMBERS PRESENTS: Ann Smith, Gail Pittman-McDaniel, Andy Anderson,Al Link, Brett Duncan, Eric Dangerfield, RoseDominguez and Sandra Bailey-SimmonsMEMBERS ABSENT:NoneA School Tube presentation was done by the Woodland Park ElementaryMagnet School, which led the Pledge of Allegiance.It was moved by Ms. Bailey-Simmons, seconded by Ms. Dominguez, to approvethe Board minutes of August 21, <strong>2012</strong> as distributed. Hearing no objection, the motionwas adopted.It was moved by Ms. Dominguez, seconded by Mr. Link, to approve theCommittee and Delegation Reports contained on the agenda. Following are thereports as approved:CURRICULUM COMMITTEE – AUGUST 21, <strong>2012</strong>:1. Ms. Sharon Spring, Virtual Learning Coordinator, gave an update on the VirtualSchool Program, which consists of four options for students: Full-time Virtual,Blended Virtual, Expelled/9 Day and Homebound.2. It was moved by Ms. Dominguez, seconded by Mr. Link, to amend Item 1 of thePupil Progression Plan to include Foreign Language in the core subject area.Hearing no objection, the motion was adopted.It was moved by Mr. Link, seconded by Ms. Dominguez, to accept the revisionsto the <strong>2012</strong>-13 Pupil Progression Plan as amended. Hearing no objection, themotion was adopted. Following are the revisions as approved:1. Students should receive a grade instead of Pass/Fail for CarnegieCredit classes in core subject areas (Math, English, Science,Foreign Language and Social Studies) taken at the middle school level.Note: Students will continue to receive a Pass/Fail for elective coursestaken at the middle school level, college courses taken off campus and

Ms. Theresa Hamilton, Chief Academic Officer, presented the results ofthe Teacher Survey, which indicated the concerns of teachers on aClassroom, School, and District level.4. Ms. Hamilton presented the <strong>2012</strong>-13 Teacher Evaluation Framework forTAP and Non-Tap <strong>Schools</strong>.5. He stated that Mr. Bret Schnadelbach, Chief Financial Officer, and his staffwill be meeting with federal officials concerning the specific requirements for stormrelated expense reimbursements. He spoke on the following areas:Shelter schools for evacuees were:• Kentwood High• Amite High• Nesom Middle• Natalbany Elementary• Hammond Junior High• Hammond Westside Magnet• Ponchatoula HighShelter schools for the National Guard:• West Side Middle• Sumner HighShelter schools for St. Charles <strong>Parish</strong> officials:• Hammond High MagnetDamages:• Most schools has some type of roof leak with this type of storm3

Hearing no objection, themotion was adopted.In personal privilege, Ms. Bailey-Simmons reported on her recent experienceattending the <strong>2012</strong> National Republican Convention in Tampa, Florida.In personal privilege, Ms. Cohea thanked Superintendent Kolwe and his staff forall their hard work during Hurricane Isaac.It was moved by Mr. Link, seconded by Mr. Dangerfield, to enter intoExecutive Session to discuss the case of Joyce M. Moore vs. TPSB. Hearing noobjection, the motion was adopted.The Board entered Executive Session.4

Moore vs. TPSB.There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
