1. Preface2. Scope<strong>Confined</strong> spaces can be deadly.Many people are killed or seriously injured in confined spaces each year in Singapore. Accordingto the <strong>Workplace</strong> <strong>Safety</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Council</strong> 1 , 10% of workplace fatalities were due to workrelatedaccidents in confined spaces.This Technical Advisory (TA) aims to provide detailed information on what needs to be done tomeet the requirements of relevant legislation <strong>and</strong> Code(s) of Practice in all workplaces whereentry into or work in confined spaces is required. It also aims to provide practical guidance on thenecessary measures for safe entry into <strong>and</strong> work in confined spaces.These fatal accidents happened across a range of industries; from complex plants to simplestorage vessels.
