The JPCA consists of 29member companies.The JPCA aims at contributing to the sound growth of the petrochemical industry andthe development of the Japanese economy through major activities including study andresearch on the petrochemical industry, compilation of statistics, collection and distributionof information and materials, dissemination of knowledge and education and publication ofopinions.6 1.1.5 Japan Surfactant Industry Association(http://www.kaimenko.com/index.html)Established in September 1950 as the Japan Fibre and Oil Industry Association and renamedin 1953 the Japan Oil Industry Association, in April 1961 the Japan Surfactant IndustryAssociation assumed its current name. It consists of 45 surfactant products manufacturingcompanies.In addition to reviewing the issues facing industry among the representatives from eachcompany, the Japan Surfactant Industry Association collects and compiles information onthe environment and safety regarding the surfactant product industry, disseminates thecorrect knowledge and provides various information on the surfactant.40
