COMMANDANT’S COLUMN
by Acting Commandant Jackie Moore
Members, Families, Visitors and Staff:
Many of you are aware that Chaplain Tracy
Hamelink was on a medical leave of absence
from her position as Protestant Chaplain for
the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King since
August 2009.
We are sorry to announce that Chaplain Tracy passed away the afternoon
of Friday, March 19. She had recently entered into Hospice Care and
was surrounded by her family.
Tracy worked as a Chaplain in the Spiritual Care Department since
June 2000. She was a vital person in providing for the spiritual care and
needs of members who reside here. Chaplain Tracy touched the lives
of members, their families and staff in her work. She cared deeply for
others and was guided in her work by the religious and spiritual beliefs
she held so dear.
This same faith is what now sustains us as we hear the news of her
passing. A memorial service will be held at the Wisconsin Veterans
Home some time in the near future.
We will miss Chaplain Tracy. Please continue to keep her family in
your thoughts and prayers.
