Maybe housed with maintenancefAs with clubhouse and equipmentstorage facilities these are usuallysituated in areas where flooding is nota problem. Usually associated withpark maintenance and may consist <strong>of</strong>a compound with maintenanceequipment e.g. mowers, andstockpiles <strong>of</strong> materials such as mulchand topsoil.8Generally instigated by communitygroups, <strong>of</strong>ten supported by and inconjunction with local government.Council approval, or approval <strong>of</strong> therelevant landowner, is required prior tocommencement <strong>of</strong> works. Maintenanceis carried out by community groupmembers and other volunteers, andCouncil natural area managementteams, sometimes with additional laboursupplied by training programs including;Green Corps, Community Jobs <strong>Plan</strong> andWork for the Dole. In some cases,Councils TCC Maintenance Servicesdepartment, maintain sites in conjunctionwith natural area teamsRelatively d it unmanaged with theexception <strong>of</strong> perceived strategicallyimportant areas such as Corveth’sWaterhole where community groupactivity and activity supported bycommunity groups and Councils iscarried out on a semi-regular basis i.e.incorporated in non-continuous andseparate projects.Identified in planning processes t<strong>of</strong>acilitate ongoing management activitiesand recreational access. Areas usuallyphysically managed by Councils and alsomaintained in their planning documentsand processes.As for access areas.<strong>Management</strong> depend on the facilityowner and arrangements made betweenthe facility owner and the user, ifseparate entities. <strong>Management</strong> andmaintenance may be a function <strong>of</strong>Councils, clubs or communityorganisations, or some combination <strong>of</strong>these.Managed and operated by Councils.May have some arrangements withcommunity groups or otherorganisations for storage and or co-use<strong>of</strong> equipment or facilities.
