SIGHTS OF UAE - SHAHAMA ZOO
The Family & Kids Park zoo, located in Shahama – Abu Dhabi,
is the first private zoo in UAE. With a range of attractions from
watching to petting and even feeding the animals, it is definitely a
fun trip for adults and children alike.
Wild animals, reptiles, birds and amphibians are all part of the
attraction at this family friendly park. You can find Camels,
Horses, Donkeys, Ostrich, Sheep, Lama, Goats, Ibex, Oryx, Deer,
Tortoise, Guinea Fowl, Peacock, Kangaroo, and Rabbits. Guinea
Pigs, Iguana Turkey, Squirrel, Pigeons, Civet Cat, Raccoon,
Meerkat, Ferret, Bush Baby, Hamsters, Squirrels, 12 Aquariums
of fresh water fish and a wide variety of exotic birds. Also recently
opened are the ocean park, featuring a variety of fresh water fish
and hatcheries, as well as a snakes, reptiles & amphibians park
where the braver of us can get their photos taken with a boa!
Be prepared to face everything from wild hyenas and lions to the
tamer monkeys, peacocks, giraffes and a variety of farm animals
at the petting zoo.
At a very reasonable price of only 20 Dhs per adult or 60 Dhs for
a family of 5, visitors can enjoy the park all day from 9:30 AM to
8:00 PM (9 on weekends!).
Animal Fun Facts
Did you know the female Leopard Tortoise can lay 5-30 eggs and
will take between 60-120 days to hatch.
Did you know the lizards are reptiles that shed their tails to escape
predators?
There are only three animals with blue tongues: the black bear,
the Chow dog and the blue-tongued lizard.
