Recognition of
Tanglin WEC
@ Women’s
Integration Network
(WIN) Council
Awards Dinner
on 5 March 2010
at Mandarin Meritus Hotel
Tanglin WEC chairman, Alice Siew PBM was one of the 17
mentors from the WIN Council with their mentees at the above
event. She received recognition for her role in WIN Groom-A
Child To Excel Mentorship Programme when she was featured
in the local Chinese newspaper Zaobao.
The GRACE Mentorship Programme piloted by WIN Council in
March 2009 involved WEC taking the role of mentors to girls
from disadvantaged families between the ages of 7 and 12 ,
helping them to excel academically and providing them the
opportunities to enrol in aesthetic classes such as singing or
dancing.
Alice Siew started mentoring Zheng Yuzi when she was 10
years old. She is 12 this year preparing for her PSLE under the
tutorship of Ms Grace Ong, Chairman of Pek Kio YEC who tutors
her weekly at Pek Kio CC. Alice proudly announces that Yuzi’s
results have improved by leaps and bounds and has confidence
that her mentee will do well in her PSLE at the end of this year.
Tanglin WEC ladies have invited Yuzi to WEC activities such
celebrations, excursions and the Joy Of Giving community
outreach to needy old folks in Block 47 Owen Road where food
ration is delivered regularly. As such Yuiz has gained confidence
and good social graces.
Alice Siew says “I would like to thank our Tanglin CCMC ,well-
wishers and friends for their continued support of our mentorship
programme where donation, Christmas gifts, Hong Baos and
dinner invitations came pouring in spontaneously.”
