Development of
Rangoon Substation
SP PowerGrid, a member of Singapore Power Group, manages Singapore’s
electricity and gas transmission and distribution networks to deliver reliable and
efficient electricity supply to industrial, commercial and residential customers.
To cater for future anticipated demand for electricity, SP PowerGrid is developing
a substation at Rangoon Road at the site of the former Kuo Chuan Presbyterian
Secondary School. The substation will be a 3-storey building designed to
aesthetically blend in with the surrounding residential areas. Construction work
has started in July 2010. When completed in 2013, the Rangoon Substation will
serve the needs of residential and commercial customers in the vicinity and
south-central part of Singapore.
The relevant government agencies have been consulted to ensure that the
development of this substation complies fully with government land use guidelines.
The project has been awarded to Brilliant General Building Construction Pte
Ltd and the appointed Consultants are The Architects Circle Pte Ltd and Mott
MacDonald Singapore Pte Ltd. The contractor is required to comply with all
legislations governing noise, pollution and traffic control and will take measures
to minimise inconvenience to residents in the area.
Every effort will be taken to minimise inconvenience to residents and the public.
