Product-friendly and fast......Vacuum Heating and Drying Ovens V V TOptimum drying results under exceptional conditions

Drying in a vacuum . . .The AdvantagesNo doubt, there are various ways ofdrying your product. You should decideon the vacuum drying ovens VVT ofVötsch...Heat-sensitive mediums(e. g. pharmaceutical products)are dried with careReduced drying times by loweringthe pressureDue to the extremely low remainingoxygen content in the drying oventhere are no oxidation processesEvaporating fluids (e. g. solvents)can be recoveredOptimum drying conditions for light, powdery products as there is noturbulence (no convection)No “skin-forming” on the productbeing dried; therefore constant dryingperformanceGraph showing state of waterEconomic because steam or warmwater from other processes can beused as a heat mediumFlexible heating.Pressure(mbar)10 2Graph showing state of waterSolidLiquid10 110 0EvaporatingGaseous10 -110 -210 -3-60 -40 -20 0 20 40 60 80 100 Temperature in °C2

...more multi-faceted than you thinkRange of ApplicationYou can dry products from almost allbranches of industry in a vacuum dryingoven, e. g.:Pharmaceutical industryChemical industryCosmetics industryFood processing industryElectrical and electronic engineeringPrecision engineering and opticsAerospace industryResearch and developmentMicrostructure techniquesNanotechniquesPlastics and ceramicsTextilesSurface techniquesState your special requirements – wewill carry out preliminary experimentsfor you.3

Construction . . .DesignOur vacuum drying ovens are of compactdesign. The major componentsare:- Drying oven with shelves- Heating and cooling aggregate for thethermal medium- Vacuum pump- Condenser with storage vessel.Heating ModesElectricalWarm waterThermal oilSteamInfrared radiationMicrowave (HF)TestingWe seal test our vacuum drying ovensand supply you with a test certificate.Safety DevicesPressure-relief valveTemperature limiterConstruction FeaturesAll components of the drying oven itselfare of stainless steel with material class1.4571 as these may come into contactwith the product. The external housing and reinforcementsare made of stainless steel withthe material class 1.4301.The interior of the drying ovenis designed in compliance withGMP-/FDA regulations. This isimportant when the product beingdried should on no account react toother substances or when productentrainment shall be preventedduring loading/unloading.Inspection glass (200 mm diameter)in the doorHeat-resistant silicon seal in the doorSeals can be easily replaced whennecessaryDouble-jointed hinge to ensure thatthe door closes tightly and preventsoverwearing the sealsAdditional flanges are providedfor special applications.Temperature RangeThe maximum rated temperatures thatcan be reached at the product beingdried depend on the mode of heatingused for the drying oven.Mode ofMaximumHeating Temperature in °CElectric 200 / 400Warm water 95 / 140Thermal oil 200 / 250Steamaccording to thesteam pressureA ThermostatB Vacuum drying ovenC Condenser systemD Vacuum pump1 Heated shelf2 Distribution system –inflow3 Distribution system –feedback4 Thermostat5 Condenser6 Storage vessel4Vacuum Heating and Drying Ovens VVT125/170 WW-GMP

...and designHeating ModesWe offer four heating solutions:- Electrical- With heating medium- Infrared radiation- Microwave (HF).The first two processes are based onthe principle of contact heating. Thismeans that the heat is conducted fromthe heat medium through contact areasto the product. With the electrical version, tubularheaters are fed in coils through thehollow shelves (sandwich construction). With the version using heat mediumyou have three possibilities:- Warm water- Thermal oil- Steam. If you wish to heat using a heatmedium, we equip the drying ovenwith pressure-tight, hollow shelves. The difference from the electrical versionis that the heat transfer mediumflows through channels and then fillsthe entire cavity of the shelf.A separate thermostat controls thetemperature of the heat medium. Theheated medium is pumped in a cyclethrough the individual shelves. With the steam heating version a specialvalve is responsible for controllingthe amount of steam. This control operateswithout auxiliary power so that it ispossible to use this type of control in anexplosion-proof room. With steam it is possible to heat in twodifferent ways, the temperature of thesteam being important:- When T 100 °C the steam is fedinto the distribution system for theshelves.Vacuum Heating and Drying Oven VVT 110/170 EA (jacket heating)Vacuum PumpA standard feature of our vacuumdrying ovens are the oil-sealed, slidevane rotary vacuum pumps.CondenserThe condenser enables large amountsof humidity to be recovered which isparticularly important when using hazardoussolvents. An additional advantage: condensationaccelerates drying.Use with potentiallyexplosive products andin hazardous locationsOur vacuum drying ovens are explosion-protectedwhen...- the vaccum drying oven is to beinstalled in an area where there is riskof explosion- the fluid of your product being dried iseasily inflammable.Options/AccessoriesUse of special materials for all componentsthat come into contact withevaporating fluids (e. g. Inconel,Hasteloy)Combination with recirculation air forheating up of products at normalatmosphereDesign in accordance withGMP-/FDAQualification documents are issuedas verification of our testsIn order to avoid condensation in thedrying oven, the door and walls canbe heatedPneumatically-controlled doors forthe automatic loading of the dryingovenDesigned for high-vacuum processesSpecial dimensionsSpecial vacuum pumpsS!MPATI* Software (refer to page 6)Digital pressure displayPressure control in conjunction witha solenoid valve in the suction lineTemperature sensor for productbeing driedNitrogen supply for quick extractionof released vapourFor aggressive solvents:door seals of viton or with FEP coverExternal housing with surroundingframe for installation in wall.5

Operating and controlling...Operating andcontrolling with…All Vötsch dry heat sterilisers areequipped with the operating andcontrol system .Theis a self-controlling,digital measuring and control system. The input of process parametersand programmes, as well as the outputof actual values, operating and errormessages, is carried out by means of atouch-panel.Comfortable input of process valuesand programme operation, withgraphic presentation of the setand actual values by means of thetouch-panelProgramme memory for up to100 programmes, with a total of1,000 sectionsTwo-level password protectionagainst unauthorised accessIntegrated limit value temperaturecontrol systemSerial interfaces RS 232 C andRS 485, EthernetOperating and failure messages areshown on the colour touch-panelCompatible with Vötsch PC softwarepackage , for convenientadministration and archiving datarecordsSpecial user interface for applicationin a production environment (simplifiedprocess start/stop mode).Vötsch PC softwarepackageThe Vötsch software ensuresa complete documentation and graphicalevaluationIf installed in an optional notebook orPC, the user can create programmeprofiles and document all process parameters.Parallel to this, the user canmake full use of the PC’s performance.Software advantages:Up to 99 units can be networkedProgramming and selection of programmesfor automatic processes;no costly programming requiredNot only operating and control butalso documentation, visualisationand administration of sterilisationprocess dataPrint graphical presentation ofprocess data and copy into otherprogrammes.
