To enhance students’understanding on elevators, visit to oneof the major elevator manufacturers andsuppliers in Hong Kong was speciallyarranged for the students.To enhance active learning, teamcompetition was introduced for eachsubject and the best project/productwas selected. The competition is a goodopportunity to demonstrate students’understanding on the subject as well astheir abilities and skills to realize theirdesigns. Students can also learn andappreciate the design and work of otherstudent teams.The new subjects were first introducedand delivered to HKUST students duringthe winter break of 2008/09. Feedbackfrom their programme leader, professorsand students were encouraging.Suggestions were also made to improvethe subject content and delivery.Some of the suggestions were quicklyimplemented in the following summerterm. With such a fruitful result, the ICwishes that the new subjects can beimplemented to other programmes andinstitutions.配 合 大 學 課 程 改 革 及 社 會 需為 要 , 工 業 中 心 在 2008/09 學 年為 香 港 科 技 大 學 機 械 工 程 學 系 全 新設 計 了 三 門 新 學 科 。 有 別 於 以 往 以技 術 或 工 場 為 本 的 傳 統 單 元 培 訓 活動 , 新 學 科 挑 選 了 三 個 較 熱 門 的 專業 應 用 範 圍 , 包 括 智 能 自 動 化 、 綜合 節 能 樓 宇 建 築 以 及 電 動 小 車 , 以項 目 為 本 的 教 學 模 式 來 提 高 學 生 對個 別 專 業 的 全 面 認 識 , 包 括 設 計 、技 術 、 製 造 及 應 用 層 面 等 。 學 生 按興 趣 挑 選 喜 愛 的 學 科 , 再 由 導 師 分成 小 組 , 完 成 工 業 中 心 導 師 指 定 的項 目 。 例 如 挑 選 了 智 能 自 動 化 學 科的 學 生 需 要 在 四 個 星 期 內 設 計 及 製造 一 台 小 規 模 的 自 動 升 降 機 , 完 成品 必 須 符 合 導 師 預 設 的 最 低 操 作 要求 。 在 四 個 星 期 內 , 學 生 首 先 要 學習 編 寫 系 統 自 動 化 程 式 、 機 械 製 造及 組 裝 等 技 術 及 知 識 , 最 後 設 計 及製 造 出 一 台 可 操 作 的 自 動 升 降 機 。假 若 學 生 小 組 有 充 裕 的 時 間 、 較 高的 技 術 和 能 力 , 學 生 甚 至 可 以 在 基本 操 作 模 式 上 增 值 , 例 如 更 好 的 上落 編 排 模 式 等 等 。 為 提 高 學 生 對 升降 機 製 造 和 運 作 的 認 識 , 導 師 更 安排 學 生 參 觀 有 關 企 業 , 由 專 業 人 士介 紹 升 降 機 的 各 種 原 理 、 操 作 及 維修 服 務 等 。為 增 加 學 生 的 學 習 興 趣 、 主 動 性 及投 入 感 , 在 學 科 完 結 前 導 師 都 會 安排 一 個 小 型 比 賽 選 出 每 門 學 科 表 現最 優 秀 的 完 成 品 。 比 賽 的 目 的 是 考驗 學 生 對 項 目 的 整 體 認 識 和 發 揮 、設 計 和 製 作 能 力 , 並 為 學 生 提 供 一個 觀 摩 、 交 流 和 比 較 的 場 合 。新 學 科 在 2008/09 學 年 的 寒 假 期 間 首次 推 出 , 科 大 的 課 程 主 任 、 教 授 和學 生 對 新 學 科 的 反 應 十 分 正 面 , 並向 工 業 中 心 導 師 提 出 許 多 建 議 。 部分 建 議 在 其 後 暑 期 進 行 的 學 科 活 動時 更 得 以 落 實 及 採 用 。 由 於 反 應 和效 果 良 好 , 工 業 中 心 希 望 日 後 能 向其 院 校 及 學 系 課 程 推 介 這 種 學 習 內容 及 模 式 。工 業 中 心 簡 訊 15
