Carried.Vendor Accounts: Denise Wood – Denise presented her written report. Thedehumidifier regulator <strong>and</strong> igniter belt were replaced. The total outst<strong>and</strong>ing was$9,616.26. Print Three produced <strong>the</strong> Provincial Programs <strong>and</strong> bookmarks at a cost <strong>of</strong>$481.35.Correspondence: Margaret Obee-- A letter was received from Ken Draper on behalf <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pacific Northwest ShrineAssociation requesting rental <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ice surface for an afternoon during <strong>the</strong>ir annualShrine meeting in May.- Referred to new business.- An email was received from Scott Braley <strong>of</strong> Curl BC re host sites for <strong>the</strong> 2013Provincials.-Filed.- A letter was received from Chris Morrison re Membership rebates.-Filed withDenise.- Information was received from Curl BC re nomination forms for annual awards.-Referred to new business.- A letter was received from Bob Munnik requesting support for <strong>the</strong> windup <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Sunday night League.- Referred to new business.- A letter was received from Bill Leynard re spare fees.-Referred to new business.- A letter <strong>and</strong> a cheque in <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> $4762.80 were sent to <strong>the</strong> Brian Scorer teamto support <strong>the</strong>ir trip to <strong>the</strong> Provincial Guy Philp Championships in Kimberley.- A letter <strong>and</strong> a cheque in <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> $464.10 were sent to <strong>the</strong> Debbie Pulak teamto support <strong>the</strong>ir trip to <strong>the</strong> Senior Women’s Provincials in Kelowna.- A letter <strong>and</strong> a cheque in <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> $300.00 were sent to <strong>the</strong> Van Osch JuvenileGirl’s team to support <strong>the</strong>ir trip to <strong>the</strong> BC Winter Games in Vernon.- A letter <strong>and</strong> a cheque in <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> $656.90 were sent to <strong>the</strong> Sally Noonan teamto support <strong>the</strong>ir trip to <strong>the</strong> Master Women’s Provincials in Gr<strong>and</strong> Forks.- Treasurer’s Report: Denise Wood presented <strong>the</strong> written report. There is sufficientfunding to get through to <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> next year. Hydro rates will increase next year.Bob questioned what jobs will be done in <strong>the</strong> summer at what cost. Pat said <strong>the</strong>associated costs will be minimal. There is still light work to be done on ice. Onethird <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> light work is done at a cost <strong>of</strong> around $20,000.00 <strong>and</strong> rebates <strong>of</strong>


2$8,000.00 have been received. The Capital Reserve <strong>of</strong> $12,800.00 under CurrentLiabilities will be moved to RBC Capital Reserve under Current assets increasing<strong>the</strong> sum to $27.201.44.- Motion: (Bob Franklin/Fred Rumo) To accept <strong>the</strong> financial report as presented.Carried.Committee Reports:- Finance- Ron Kaneen-A draft <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> proposed budget will be out before <strong>the</strong> nextmeeting.- Membership- Linda Torgerson- No Report.- Catering- Kellie Rice- There are three catering events remaining, ProvincialMixed, Senior Men’s, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Spring Fling. It has been more difficult to getvolunteers this year.- Programs <strong>and</strong> Services – Janet Povey- Janet will try to ga<strong>the</strong>r up all <strong>the</strong> bonspielexperts <strong>and</strong> get <strong>the</strong> template done for future bonspiels. There will likely be a couplemore meetings with her present committee.- Facilities- Pat Merkel- When curling is over Pat will get her committee toge<strong>the</strong>r<strong>and</strong> do <strong>the</strong> jobs that were previously compiled. There will be a work party withDarren this summer.- <strong>Curling</strong> – Jim Davies- Patty <strong>and</strong> Brian McCorry will be <strong>the</strong> Friday night MixedLeague reps next year. The Sunday night League will likely be charged a social feenext year as <strong>the</strong>y have come to <strong>the</strong> board for funding <strong>the</strong> last two years.- Volunteers: -Dave Perpeluk- At <strong>the</strong> Men’s Bonspiel around $600.00 was madewith 50-50 draws. There will be three draws at <strong>the</strong> Mixed Provincials. The nextPoker Tournament is on March 24.- Nominations Committee- Bob Franklin- Bob has spoken to <strong>the</strong> Tuesday <strong>and</strong>Thursday night Men’s Leagues about nominations for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Board</strong>. Emails have beensent to all League Reps.- Strategic Planning- George Duffell- The next Strategic Planning meeting will bein July.- Curl BC- Bob Franklin- The next Regional meeting is in April.- Revenue Generation-Fred Rumo-Manager’s Report: - Denise presented her written report. Switching to Canister popinstead <strong>of</strong> bag syrup has increased <strong>the</strong> cost so Denise will be rechecking this. There havebeen several small user groups out this season. Much interest has been shown. Our <strong>Club</strong>is hosting <strong>the</strong> South Isl<strong>and</strong> <strong>Club</strong> championships. Denise requested help running thisevent.Ice Technician’s Report: - Darren Horton – No Report.Old Business:New Business/Business Arising from Correspondence:-a) The letter from Ken Draper re <strong>the</strong> Shriner’s ice area rental was discussed. Wewant to ensure that <strong>the</strong> ice surface is not damaged. We would require a security


3deposit <strong>of</strong> $5,000.00 for cleanup <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>re would be a daily rental charge <strong>of</strong>$2,500.00 .Denise will follow up on this request.b) The Curl BC annual awards were discussed.c) The Business <strong>of</strong> <strong>Curling</strong> Symposium to be held April 27-29 in DowntownVancouver was discussed. Registration is required by April 12. <strong>Board</strong> membersinterested are George Duffell, Fred Rumo, Denise Wood, <strong>and</strong> Jim Davies.Decisions will be made by <strong>the</strong> next <strong>Board</strong> meeting.d) The letter from Bill Leynard re spare fees was discussed. George has spoken withhim <strong>and</strong> related <strong>the</strong> information re spare fees here <strong>and</strong> those in o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>Club</strong>s beingmore than ours.Round Table Discussion:-A discussion was held re Volunteer awards. Perhaps a volunteer box could be set up witha winner drawn each month.George thanked <strong>the</strong> board for <strong>the</strong>ir support for <strong>the</strong>ir trip to <strong>the</strong> Provincials <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> GuyPhilp Championships.Bob commented that <strong>the</strong> Sticks <strong>and</strong> Stones <strong>and</strong> Family bonspiels were a lot <strong>of</strong> fun. Roncommented that his trip with <strong>the</strong> Sally Noonan team to Gr<strong>and</strong> Forks was very good.- The next regular <strong>Board</strong> meeting will be Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 7:00 pm.-- Adjournment: Motion (Bob Franklin)- Meeting adjourned at 8:30 pmMargaret ObeeNCC Secretary
