6. The list of the beneficiaries so selected has to be published at importantplaces like Grama Chavidi, Village Secretariat, Grama Panchayat, Schooland other prominent places in the village.7. The list of the selected beneficiaries, duly verified and recommended bythe Grama Sabha has to be placed before the Assignment Committee forapproval and for further action to assign the land for the landless poor, asper the decision of the Assignment Committee.Conditions of Assignment: The assignment of lands shall be subject to thefollowing conditions:‣ <strong>Land</strong>s assigned shall be heritable but not alienable.‣ <strong>Land</strong>s assigned shall be brought under cultivation within three years.‣ No land tax shall be collected for the first three years except for the extent,if any, which has already been brought under cultivation. Water rate shall,however be charged if the lands are irrigated with Government water; and‣ Cultivation should be by the assignee or the members of his family or withhired labour under the supervision of himself or a member of his family.Mortgaging Assigned <strong>Land</strong>s for obtaining Loans:The lands assigned to landless persons may be mortgaged to theGovernment or to a Co-operative Society recognized by the Governmentincluding a land Mortgage Bank, Nationalised Bank (that is a corresponding NewBank as defined in the Banking Companies Acquisition and Transfer ofUndertakings Act, 1970), State Bank of India and its Subsidiaries and allScheduled Banks, or the Panchayat Samithi for obtaining any loan for thedevelopment of the land. The loan to be advanced will be paid in instalments asfixed.10
