REVISED LAND <strong>ASSIGNM<strong>ENT</strong></strong> POLICYFURTHER INSTRUCTIONS - ISSUED(G.O. Ms. No. 1407, Revenue Department, dated 25 th July, 1958.)The Government have examined the question of integrating the provisionsrelating to the assignment of Government waste lands at present obtaining in the<strong>Andhra</strong> and Telangana area and issue the following further instructions asapplicable to <strong>Andhra</strong> area.1. <strong>Land</strong> which can be assigned:- Having regard to the reservationsalready made and the requirements of the village for various communal purposessuch as pasturage, village site, Abjkari, etc., fresh lists of lands should be drawnup by the Tahsildar for each village and after approval by the Revenue Divisionalofficer, such lands should be entered in a Prohibitory order Book, <strong>Land</strong>s soincluded in the Prohibitory Order Book shall not be assignable, except under theorders of the Collector.Pending preparation of revised lists of lands reserved or required to bereserved for public purposes, assignments shall be confined only to lands whichstand classified as assessed or Un-assessed waste. In assigning theselands, the needs of reserving sufficient extents for public purposes shall be bornin mind. Eviction should not be effected if the present occupants are landlesspoor persons till such time as the lists are finally made and the lands concernedfall under one or other of the prohibitory categories, unless of course the landsencroached upon are already classified as such.Of the lands included in the Prohibitory Order Book, a distinction shall bemade between lands, which may not be required immediately for any publicpurpose, such as for village site extension, etc., and lands such as burial groundswhich it shall always be contrary to public interest to allow to be brought underthe plough. A separate list of the former class of lands shall be maintained andsuch lands may be permitted to be occupied on Ek- sala basis at the direction ofthe Tahsildar.2. Permission for occupation of lands at the disposal ofGovernment:- Any person desirous of taking up unoccupied land shall submit apetition to the Tahsildar in writing. This application need not be stamped. Thepersons applying shall not enter upon the land without obtaining the previouspermission in writing from the Tahsildars office. The Tahsildar should howevercommunicate orders in writing either granting or refusing permission to occupyGovernment lands within one month from the date of receipt of the application.The Village karanam shall furnish to any person desirous of so applying full20
