Normally, transport aircraft can operate when(1) The ceiling permits safe flying above the highest terrainto be traversed.(2) There is enough forward visibility for the pilot to seeobstacles in time to avoid them when flying at reducedspeeds.(3) There is enough visibility for the pilot to distinguishprominent landmarks.6. Advantages of Night <strong>Operations</strong>. Darkness offers concealment for the transport aircraft from enemy visual observation andprotection from enemy aircraft.c. Disadvantages of Night <strong>Operations</strong>.(1) The necessity for more elaborate control measures andfor caution on the part of pilots and passengers slowsdown night operations. <strong>Operations</strong> may be further prolonged when it becomes necessary to fly the aircraft singlyrather than in a compact formation.AGO 2294B 1 1
