Army Aviation Unit CommandersArmy aviation unit commanders are responsible for individualproficiency within their organizations and for training their unitsin teamwork with the supported arms and services, the employmentof aerial weapon systems, low level navigation (including formation flying at night and under other conditions of reduced visibility), camouflage and security of aircraft, unit control of aircraft,air traffic control, and confined area operations with maximumloads.Section II.CONDUCT OF TRAINING96. Generala. <strong>Airmobile</strong> training is integrated into current unit trainingprograms. The purpose of this training is to develop the capabilityof conducting airmobile operations at each level from squad tobattle group (armored cavalry regiment). Individual and unitairmobile training is given concurrently with other training whenfeasible. Combined unit training is integrated into the normaltactical training of successively larger units.b. <strong>Airmobile</strong> training begins by training personnel of small unitsin the techniques and procedures peculiar to airmobile operations.Proficiency in these techniques and procedures provides a foundation for the combined training of small ground combat units andtheir support. Aircraft organic to division is used in support ofsquad, platoon, and company training. Larger unit combinedtraining logically follows. The necessary additional Army aircraftsupport is provided by the transport battalions assigned to fieldarmy. Field exercises and maneuvers should include airmobileoperations.97. Ground Force Training, GeneralGround combat forces that are to participate in airmobile operations must be proficient in the conduct of ground tactical operations and must obtain maximum combat efficiency. With the specialtraining outlined in paragraphs 98-103 they should be capable ofplanning and executing day and night airmobile operations.98. Individual and Unit TrainingThe following subjects should be included in appropriate phasesof individual and unit training:a.
