The commander has the capabilityof moving forces to block enemy penetrations by keeping an airmobile force in reserve. <strong>Airmobile</strong> reserves of higher units maybe held in readiness for a counterattack in dispersed positionsfarther from the line of contact than reserves that depend on surface transport. <strong>Airmobile</strong> reserves of adjacent units may bemassed to meet a penetration in a particular unit's area before theenemy exploits the penetration. Special consideration must begiven to coordination with fire support units that are to lay downfires within the penetration area, and with other surface and airmobile forces participating in the counterattack.
