REJOININGReferences to this subjectAppendix Three Schedule R Section 1, Article 15.3RY037 – Temporary Withdrawal Form – MotorSport NZ websiteRY038 – Rejoin Notification Form – MotorSport NZ websiteA number of events now permit rejoining. This is a popular idea but needs to bemanaged so that the Clerk of the Course and Rally HQ always has knowledge andcontrol of the number of cars running.Rejoining is normally at selected “out” controls of service parks or meal/service breaks.Normally there would only be one or at the maximum two opportunities per event. The conditions that are put in place for rejoining must appear in your eventSupplementary Regulations. Points that need to be covered are:• Location of rejoining point• Latest time able to rejoin• Where in the field the competitor will be placed• Whether or not a rejoin competitor will feature in final results - if so then how youaward time for any stages missed is requiredAs the organiser you will need to ensure that your officials at the rejoin points are wellversed in the requirements that you have specified in the Supplementary Regulations forrejoining. The effect rejoining has on the results programme you intend to use must be consideredalong with how rejoin competitors will be shown on the results that are published.PROVIDING FOR SERVICE CREWSReferences to this subjectNSC Article 35(g)Appendix Three Schedule R Section 1, Article 6One of the activities that can bring rallying into disrepute is the behaviour of servicecrews. Careful attention to the needs for servicing can avoid such problems. Considerthe use of central service areas (service parks), no service zones and no servicebetween selected stages. When plotting the event the organiser should make sure that a service crew can getbetween servicing points on good roads at comfortable travelling speeds in the time thatit takes for the rally cars following the rally route. If the servicing route and timetable istoo tight then you will have the potential for service crews to exceed the speed limit.Servicing areas must be carefully chosen. If possible designate a suitable large yardarea. If this is not available then designate a stretch of road where wide verges will allowfor all service crews to get off the road, in such cases you are recommended to seekroad closure for the road concerned so that the area can be better controlled.PAGE 17RALLY ORGANISERS HANDBOOK2009 Edition
