du/dt filtersdu/dt filtering suppresses inverter output voltage spikesand rapid voltage changes that stress motor insulation.Additionally, du/dt filtering reduces capacitive leakagecurrents and high frequency emission of the motor cable aswell as high frequency losses and bearing currents in themotor. The need for du/dt filtering depends on the motorinsulation. For information on the construction of the motorinsulation, consult the manufacturer.If the motor does not fulfil the following requirements, thelifetime of the motor might decrease. Insulated N-end (nondrivenend) bearings and/or common mode filters are alsorequired for motor bearing currents with motors bigger than100 kW. For more information, please see the ACS880hardware manuals.Please see below about how to select a filter according to themotor.Filter selection table for ACS880Motor type Nominal AC supplyvoltageABB motorsRandom-woundM2__, M3__ andM4__Form-woundHX__ and AM__Old 1) form-woundHX__ and modularRandom-woundMotor insulation systemRequirements forABB du/dt and common mode filters, insulated N-end motor bearingsP N< 100 kW andframe size < IEC 315P N< 134 hp andframe size < NEMA 500U N≤ 500 V Standard _ + N500 V < U N≤ 600 V Standard + du/dt + du/dt + NorReinforced _ + N600 V < U N≤ 690 V Reinforced + du/dt + du/dt + N(cable length ≤ 150 m)600 V < U N 690 V(cable length > 150 m)Reinforced _ + N380 V < U N≤ 690 V Standard n/a + N + CMF380 V < U N≤ 690 V Check with the motormanufacturerHX__ and AM__ 2) 500 V < U N≤ 690 V fiber glass taping+ du/dt + N + CMF0 V < U N≤ 500 V Enmelled wire with + N + CMFHDPConsult the motor manufacturer.+ du/dt with voltages over 500 V + N + CMF1) Manufactured before 1.1.1998.2)For motors manufactured before 1.1.1998, check for additional instructions with the motor manufacturer.100 kW ≤ P N< 350 kW orIEC 315 ≤ frame size < IEC 400134 hp ≤ P N< 469 hp orNEMA 500 ≤ frame size ≤ NEMA 580Non-ABB motorsRandomwoundand formwoundU N≤ 420 V Standard Û LL= 1300 V _ + N or CMF420 V < U N≤ 500 V Standard Û LL= 1300 V + du/dt + du/dt + N or+ du/dt + CMForReinforced: Û LL= 1600 V, _+ N or CMF0.2 microsecond rise time500 V < U N≤ 600 V Reinforced: Û LL= 1600 V + du/dt + du/dt + N or+ du/dt + CMForReinforced: Û LL= 1800 V _ + N or CMF600 V < U N≤ 690 V Reinforced: Û LL= 1800 V + du/dt + du/dt + NReinforced: Û LL= 2000 V, _+ N or CMF0.3 microsecond rise timeThe abbreviations used in the table are defined belowAbbr.
