Under the new technology the user will have to type the trainnumber and SMS it to 09415139139 or 09664139139 for getting the exact location of a train onreal-time basis.The satelite-based train tracking system was jointlydeveloped by the Centre For Railway InformationSystems (CRIS), the IT arm of Indian railways and IndianInstitute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur to overcome thelimitations of the existing Train Running InformationSystem. At present the real-time train runninginformation system service covers 36 pairs of premiertrains. Some of the trains which have been providedwith the new technology include Mumbai Rajdhani, Howrah Rajdhani, Dibrugarh Rajdhani,Sealdah Duronto and Shatabdi trains for Bhopal, Kanpur and Amritsar.The Indian Railway has allocated 121 crore rupees for the project and the service is likely to beextended to all major trains over the next 18 months. The Indian Railways has received thepermission from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to operate the system throughits satellite. The railways department, however, sought fresh order from ISRO, to extend thefacility to other major trains.INTERNATIONALAFGHANISTAN & NORWAY FINALIZED DRAFT OF STRATEGICPARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTAfghanistan and Norway on 27 June 2012 finalized the draft of the strategic partnershipagreement between the two countries. The two countries will sign the draft in September 2012.Norwegian forces are posted in Faryab province of northern Afghanistan. The strategicpartnership agreement provides the long-term framework for the relationship betweenAfghanistan and the Norway after the withdrawal of forces. Afghanistan has already signedstrategic partnership agreements with the US, Britain, India, Germany, France and Italy.INDIA EMERGED AS LARGEST TRADING PARTNER OF DUBAIIndia emerged as the largest trading partner of Dubai in the first quarter of 2012-13. The latestdata of Dubai foreign trade released by the Dubai Customs in the third week of June 2012shows the trade volume in the first quarter between India and Dubai to be worth 13 billion USDollars.
