Prior to his elevationto the apex court he was serving as the chief justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The joining of JusticeLokur has taken the total number of the apex court judge to 26, which is still five short of the total strength of31 judges.Supreme Court Chief Justice S.H. Kapadia administered the oath to Justice Lokur. This is the first time in thehistory of the apex court that a judge has sworn in during the summer vacation.Born on 31 December 1953, Justice Lokur became Additional Judge of Delhi High Court on 19 February 1999 andPermanent Judge of the high court on 5 July 1999. He was appointed as Chief Justice of Guahati High Court on24 June 2010. He took over as chief justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on 15 November 2011.In one of his landmark verdicts as chief justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Justice Lokur had voided theUnion government’s decision to provide 4.5 percent reservation in educational institutions and government jobsfor Muslims within the existing reservation quota.INDIAN AMERICAN PROFESSOR ANJANI JAIN APPOINTED ASSOCIATEDEAN AT YALE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENTThe Yale School of Management on 18 June 2012announced the appointment of IndianAmerican professor Anjani Jain as senior associate dean for the full-time MBA programme aspart of the school's expansion programme.
