When should a student’s choice be <strong>final</strong>?With a few exceptions all students taking degrees in this Facultytake <strong>the</strong> same first-year subjects, namely Economics, BusinessManagement, Industrial Psychology, Accounting and Statistics/Ma<strong>the</strong>matics.These subjects form <strong>the</strong> foundation <strong>of</strong> anymanagement degree.In <strong>the</strong> second year <strong>the</strong>re are a number <strong>of</strong> differences between <strong>the</strong>various fields, and in <strong>the</strong> third year <strong>the</strong>re are significant differences.Ideally a student should try to make a choice at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> his/herfirst year, although it can be done later on if necessary as well. Itcould have <strong>the</strong> implication that extra subjects need to be taken for<strong>the</strong> new field <strong>of</strong> study.Students can change <strong>the</strong>ir field <strong>of</strong> study in <strong>the</strong> programme forPrivate Sector Management only twice. Only in exceptional casesand with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dean and <strong>the</strong> Programme Director:Private Sector Management, will a student be allowed to change fora third time.Economic and Management Sciences 24Calendar 2011
