(4) Equal Employment Opportunity.(a) Affirmation.(i) The parties hereto affirm their commitment to a policy of equalemployment opportunity designed to promote a positive model ofdiversity and the elimination of discrimination in theatre. Consistent withthe foregoing, it is the intention of the parties that the casting of playsand the hiring of Stage Managers be conducted in such a manner as toprovide equal employment opportunities to <strong>Actors</strong> of all ethnicities(including, but not limited to, African American, Asian/Asian–PacificAmerican, Hispanic-American, Native American, multicultural), women,seniors, and <strong>Actors</strong> with disabilities.(ii) The Producer agrees that the casting of all productions will beconducted in such a manner as to provide full and fair consideration to<strong>Actors</strong> of all ethnicities (including, but not limited to, African American,Asian/Asian–Pacific American, Hispanic-American, Native American,multi-cultural), women, seniors, and <strong>Actors</strong> with disabilities.(iii) Unless otherwise textually indicated, all parts/roles shall be open toall <strong>Actors</strong> without prejudice. This shall be evident in all casting notices,calls and cast breakdowns in order to insure full participation in thecasting process.(b) When a role being cast depicts a person with a disability, the Produceragrees to include that fact in the casting specifications and also to notifyEquity of such specifications so that all performers with a comparabledisability shall be informed and given the opportunity to audition for the role.The Producer will make a reasonable effort to cast a role depicting a personwith a disability with a performer with said or a comparable disability.(c) When auditions are held in premises that are not architecturallyaccessible, the Producer, upon notification by either a performer with adisability who wishes to audition or by Equity, shall arrange accessibleaudition facilities to accommodate Equal Access Casting for performerswith disabilities.(d) When a deaf performer is sought or a deaf character is being cast, theProducer shall provide during the audition-qualified interpreter(s) for thedeaf (interpreters qualified or certified in sign language or oralinterpretation).(e) When a performer who is blind or has low vision is sought, the Producerwill insure that the script is made available to the performer in advance ofthe auditions.(B) Equity Auditions (Equity Auditions, Local Equity Auditions, Equity Chorus Calls).The Producer shall abide by the following procedures for the conducting of auditionsfor Equity performers:(1) Auditions for a Package Tour shall be conducted by the Producer of theoriginating Theatre or by the "Point Producer" when designated by saidProducer.8
