DRAFT RECOMMENDED PRACTICE FOR MISSION OPERATIONS REFERENCE MODEL4 MO ARCHITECTURE MODEL4.1 INTRODUCTION TO MO ARCHITECTURE MODEL4.1.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF ARCHITECTURE MODELThe purpose of the Architecture Model is to provide the functional view of the layers of theMO Service Stack. These functional concepts are elaborated in the context of the MOsystem environment introduced in section 3.This Architecture Model provides an abstract model of an MO system. This abstract modelis refined in two ways: one to provide a functional view of a MO system, and the second toprovide an interaction view of each layer. The functional view defines the functionality that is performed by that aspect, without regardto the way this functionality is implemented in real systems. The functional view decomposesthe layers into elementary components that transfer messages between the peer layers. The interaction view models the flow of messages inside each of the layers. The interactionview also shows the error return paths and conditions for each of the layers.4.1.2 MODELLING TECHNIQUEThe functional views of the architecture model are presented as UML component diagrams, which models real systems through functional entities called components. The interaction views of the architecture model are presented as UML sequence diagrams, which model the interaction of components.CCSDS 520.1-R-1 Page 4-1 October 2009
