DRAFT RECOMMENDED PRACTICE FOR MISSION OPERATIONS REFERENCE MODEL5 MO SERVICE INTERACTIONS5.1 OVERVIEWThis section provides sequences for the basic support interactions required for a compliantMO service implementation.5.2 SECURITY AND LOGINThe following sequence shows the basic procedure for a service consumer for interactingwith a security service:OperatorMO Login Service Consumer ApplicationMAL Access Control Transport LayerSystem SecurityServerLoginLoginReturn credentialsInform Security Server of our RoleInvoke OperationSubmit MessageCheck MessageGet security credentialsAdd to messageReturn updated MessageTransmit messageFigure 5-1: Login SequenceThe basic outline of this sequence is that the operator logs into the relevant operating systemas normal and then logs into the MO service system to provide a relevant role:a) The operator logs into the operating system as normal using the relevant technologyand account credentials.b) The operator then uses a deployment specific MO Login service implementation toinform the system of his or her role.c) The MO Login service performs the actions necessary for that specific securityimplementation.d) The MO Login service returns the security credentials appropriate for thatimplementation and deployment. These should be used for all further messagessubmitted to the MAL implementation.e) It is deployment-specific what is contained in the returned security credentials and whetherit is required that these then be used in other messages passed by a consumer to its MAL<strong>CCSDS</strong> 520.1-R-1 Page 5-1 October 2009
