Withdrawal from <strong>the</strong><strong>University</strong>If you determine that you cannot complete aquarter for which you have paid fees, or signeda payment agreement with <strong>the</strong> Billing <strong>Office</strong>,you must petition for withdrawal at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Office</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> <strong>Registrar</strong>. If <strong>the</strong> petition requirements aremet and <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> your college dean issecured, you will be withdrawn <strong>of</strong>ficially.If your petition is filed prior to <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong>instruction, your registration is cancelled andyour fees are unassessed. Astudent’s status may be lapsed for <strong>the</strong> followingreasons: 1) for failure to comply with <strong>the</strong>conditions for admission, 2) for failure to registerand enroll in courses by <strong>the</strong> deadline stated in<strong>the</strong> Schedule <strong>of</strong> Classes, 3) for failure to settlefinancial obligations when due or to makesatisfactory arrangements with <strong>the</strong> Billing,Accounts Receivable, Collections <strong>Office</strong> (BARC)if payment cannot be made, 4) for failure torespond to <strong>of</strong>ficial university notices (includingfailure to remove blocks).Students who have had <strong>the</strong>ir status lapsed arerequired to pay a prorated portion <strong>of</strong> allassessed fees up to <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> such lapse inaccordance with <strong>the</strong> fee refund schedule.Financial aid students who have had <strong>the</strong>ir statuslapsed will have <strong>the</strong>ir aid cancelled for <strong>the</strong>quarter.3. A leave <strong>of</strong>absence is no substitute for registered status in<strong>the</strong> eyes <strong>of</strong> lending agencies. Official transcripts <strong>of</strong> any work youattempted elsewhere in <strong>the</strong> interim must besubmitted. Priority filingperiod for readmission is: November 1-30 (<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>preceding year) for fall quarter; July 1-31 (<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>preceding year) for winter quarter; October 1-31(<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> preceding year) for spring quarter.Students who are seeking readmission to <strong>the</strong>College <strong>of</strong> Letters and Science after havingalready completed 155 or more units may berequired to submit a Proposed Schedule forGraduation before readmission will be considered.In general, readmission will be approvedonly for those students whose proposedschedule leads to graduation within 200 totalunits. As <strong>the</strong> proposal must be endorsed by <strong>the</strong>student’s major department (and minor
18department if a minor is planned), studentsshould begin this process several months priorto <strong>the</strong>ir intended return.If you were on reinstatement-probation, weresubject to academic disqualification, ordismissed by dean’s action when you left <strong>the</strong>university, you will not be considered forreadmission unless you are first reinstated by<strong>the</strong> dean <strong>of</strong> your college.
