Thewebsite contains information about crimestatistics for <strong>the</strong> three previous calendar yearsconcerning reported crimes that occurred oncampus; in certain <strong>of</strong>f-campus buildings orproperty owned or controlled by UCSB; and onpublic property within or immediately adjacentto and accessible from <strong>the</strong> campus.This information is required by law, providedby <strong>the</strong> <strong>Office</strong> <strong>of</strong> Student Life and <strong>the</strong> campusPolice Department, and upholds <strong>the</strong> campusbelief that a well-informed community is betterserved and safer. UC <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Barbara</strong> makescontinual efforts to reduce crime on campus andsupports a reporting philosophy that encouragesvictims or witnesses to report all incidentsimmediately to ei<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> UCSB Police oranonymously to a Campus Security Authority.However, in cases <strong>of</strong> sexual assault, <strong>the</strong><strong>University</strong> recognizes that reporting to lawenforcement is a personal decision and respects<strong>the</strong> right <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> survivor to make that decision.Student GrievanceProceduresUCSB is in compliance with all legislation whichseeks to eliminate discrimination towardstudents. Titles VI and VII <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Civil Rights Act<strong>of</strong> 1964 prohibit discrimination on <strong>the</strong> basis <strong>of</strong>race, color, national origin, and religion.
