WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?Reporting Complaints:<strong>Employee</strong>s are required to immediately report conduct which is believedto be in violation of this policy and are encouraged to follow their chainof command. If they are not comfortable doing so, they may contact:■ The Human Resources Representative■ The Office of Professional Standards Manager (or designee)■ The Human Resources Division Director (or designee)Complaints of harassment will be handled and investigated promptly and in asimpartial and confidential manner as possible. <strong>Employee</strong>s are required to cooperatein any investigation.If you have questions about the policy, please contact your supervisor or your HRRepresentativePromotional OpportunitiesJob openings are posted on the Orange County Intra<strong>net</strong> to allowemployees to apply for other positions. Applications should be submittedonline. It is the employee’s responsibility to supply all necessary documentation (i.e.,license, certifications, diplomas, etc.) in order to meet minimum qualifications fora posted position.Smoking Policy - Smoke Free CampusIn order to protect the public health, safety, and welfare ofcitizens and employees, smoking tobacco or any othersubstance is prohibited in County owned or operated facilities andvehicles. <strong>Employee</strong>s will not be permitted to use tobacco products onCounty property to include County parking lots, break areas, and work sites.Smoking means the lighting of any cigarette, cigar or pipe, or the possessionof any lighted cigarette, cigar or pipe, regardless of its composition.Use of County PropertyThe County will provide employees with the necessary tools andequipment to perform their jobs. <strong>Employee</strong>s are responsiblefor all lost or damaged equipment, and reporting to their supervisors anymalfunctioning or missing equipment. <strong>Employee</strong>s must follow instructions forthe proper use of all equipment and all applicable safety procedures in the useof this equipment.Orange County Government <strong>Employee</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong> | 11
