WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?HolidaysThe County observes (9) paid holidays per year. The official dates ofobserved holidays are determined annually by the Board of CountyCommissioners. You may be scheduled and required to work on holidays. If anemployee is required to work on a holiday, employees will be paid in accordance withapplicable laws and Orange County policy.Floating HolidayOrange CountyObserves theFollowing HolidaysNew Year’s Day— • —Martin Luther King Jr, Day— • —Memorial Day— • —Independence Day— • —Labor Day— • —Thanksgiving Day— • —Day after Thanksgiving— • —Christmas Eve— • —Christmas Day— • —Floating Holiday(To be used at the employee’sdiscretion with supervisoryapproval.)You will receive one (1) paid floating holiday per year. This holiday may betaken after completing six (6) months employment and with supervisoryapproval. The floating holiday must be taken before the end of the calendar year or itwill be forfeited.Pay PeriodsOrange County Government employees are paid every two (2) weeksthrough Direct Deposit. A pay period begins 12:01 a.m. on Sunday andcontinues through 12:00 midnight on Saturday of the following week, which thereforeincludes a total of fourteen (14) days. Pay advice information is available online viaMyOCInfo.Direct DepositNewly hired employees must sign up for direct deposit of County issuedpayroll checks at the time of hire. Your first check will be distributed viaU.S. mail to the address on file.InsuranceThe County provides all regular employees the opportunity to participatein the group insurance plan that includes: medical, dental, vision, longtermdisability, life and dependent life insurance.
