GAIT RECOGNITION SYSTEMThe demand for a reliable and robust personal identification system arises astechnology advances and develops. A biometric system is the key to provide a moresecure and reliable personal identification system. A biometric system verifies useridentity by comparing the behavioral or physiological trait possessed by the user to apreviously stored sample of the trait.Among them, Gait recognition system is gaining popularity and has emerged as newtechnology. Human identification at a distance has recently gained enormous interestamong computer vision researchers. Gait recognition aims essentially to address thisproblem by recognizing people based on the way they walk. The objective of the project proposed is to provide a Gait biometric identification systemwhich is prone to data theft and is cost effective as compared to other biometricsystems. The proposed system is evaluated using gait databases and theexperimentation on outdoor video sequences demonstrates that the proposed algorithmachieves a pleasing recognition performance. With mounting demands for visual surveillance systems, human identification at adistance has recently emerged as an area of significant interest. Gait is beingconsidered as an impending behavioral feature and many allied studies have illustratedthat it can be used as a valuable biometric feature for human recognition. Thedevelopment of computer vision techniques has also assured that vision basedautomatic gait analysis can be gradually achieved. The proposed system has beentested on the gait databases and, the extensive experimental results on outdoor imagesequences demonstrated that the proposed system possesses a pleasing recognitionperformance.Syndicate Members: Muneeb Ullah KhanMuneeb Ilyas BhattiSaleh MuhammadSupervisor:Dr Adil Masood Siddiqi21
