UWB RF FRONT END SYSTEMFor a satellite free coordinate location system for UAVs a relay system <strong>of</strong> UAVs iseminent. The project is to design a beam steering array antenna for UAV to UAV relaysystem. The project consists <strong>of</strong> high antenna array with beam steering facility <strong>and</strong>Direction <strong>of</strong> Arrival (DOA) Algorithm. The aim <strong>of</strong> this project is to design a UWB FrontEnd system for multi st<strong>and</strong>ard purposes. In this project we will design an UWB patchantenna for 3 to 13 GHz b<strong>and</strong>. Then three b<strong>and</strong> pass filters tuned at st<strong>and</strong>ard wirelessb<strong>and</strong>s will be designed. Both antenna <strong>and</strong> filters will be implemented on the same PCB.Using one antenna for each individual b<strong>and</strong> is costly, complex <strong>and</strong> space taking.Instead we will design RF front end system for multiple b<strong>and</strong>s where different b<strong>and</strong>s willbe separated using microwave filters. In this project we will design a UWB patchantenna for 3 to 13 GHz b<strong>and</strong>, this antenna will have constant gain <strong>of</strong> 4 dB or more overentire <strong>and</strong> it will have nearly omni directional radiation pattern. Then we will divide thereceived power <strong>of</strong> antenna by means <strong>of</strong> Wilkinson power divider. The operating range <strong>of</strong>Wilkinson power divider will be same as UWB patch antenna.Output ports <strong>of</strong> Wilkinson power divider are fed to b<strong>and</strong> pass filters <strong>of</strong> desiredspecification. Hence we are making a system which will be for multi purposes as byusing single antenna we will receive WLAN b<strong>and</strong>, Satellite C b<strong>and</strong>, down link <strong>of</strong> x-b<strong>and</strong>satellite communication, MVDDS b<strong>and</strong> simultaneously.Project work will include:• Analytical calculations, simulations in HFSS <strong>and</strong> ADS• Antenna design• Microwave Engineering• Analog ElectronicsSyndicate Members: Tariq MahmoodMudassir KhanAsghar MirzaUsman tariqSupervisor:Lec.
